Re: live mode not working

  1. Are you running any antivirus or "cleaning" apps? no
  2. Have you tried to repair the game in Origin/EA App? Origin - right click on the game in your game library and select Repair. EA App - Click on the game in your EA App Library then Manage > Repair yes, twice
  3. Do you use CC/Mods? If so, have you tried removing them and trashing the localthumbcache.package file to see if that fixes your problem? i have removed everything and refreshed my files
  4. How much storage is available on your internal drive (or external if you are using one for your game)? About This Mac > More Info > Storage I have 345GB left

Thanks. Your Mac is most probably struggling to run the game, the specs are very low, especially the NVIDIA GPU ☹️

The more content you add to your game, including content added in game patches, the more your Mac will start to struggle to run the game which isn't really surprising, it is a 12 year old machine, as lovely as it still is.

Large households, busy community Lots, lots of Mods and CC, all 82 (and counting!) Packs installed all require more power for the game to run smoothly. If the game encounters a glitch, which yours seems to have done with the endless tasks, it may be that your Mac is struggling to compute the data. Whilst it may not happen all the time, or it may be a specific task/object causing the issue, more modern and technically advanced machines will be able to handle the processing power far more effectively.

hiii thanks for the replies so far 🙂

i have tried with your suggestion, of removing a couple packs, and did sadly did not help. So i tried removing all packs and opened a new save, and it still didnt help. So now im trying to repair the game for a third time, but i see other people having the same issues, this isnt a common bug with the new updates?

Yes, it is a very common issue, there are countless posts in the Game Issues forum from people with the same issue but so far there is no definitive known cause. We (us tech helpers) have noticed that players on older hardware seem to experience it more than newer, more powerful machines, which leads us to believe it is hardware related.

It may be that additional content or updates in the last patch are placing more strain on your Mac, in which case it doesn't matter how many packs you uninstall, if the core base game is demanding more from your processor and GPU that is a factor you cannot improve on.

hiii so i read some of the other threads and one suggested resetting your game, and it has helped! it looks like one of my packs or my saves has a corrupted file and now need to figure out which specifically, but it works now!
