Re: [MAC] Sims 4 won't close

@krm5krm

Try the following to force quit the app:

  1. Choose Force Quit from the Apple menu, or press Command-Option-Esc. (this is similar to pressing Control-Alt-Delete on a PC).
  2. Select the unresponsive app in the Force Quit window, then click Force Quit.

(from: https://support.apple.com/en-ie/HT201276)

After the app is closed, I would start by removing the custom content and see if it helps. If it does, then put the mods back in one by one to see which one is causing the issue. That mod would be the culprit. 🙂

    Thank you for replying! I tried the control-option-esp before asking my question and it wouldn't work. It says the game isn't in an area it can be saved and to click the x or check. When I try the rotate camera angle pops up instead of the mouse arrow so I can't click it. I just tried force quit though and it seemed to work so thank you again!

    Good to know! Let us know if you encounter the same issue later, and don't forget to remove custom content as a first step as this is the one thing the Sims team cannot always check the compatibility of. 🙂

    I have a new version of a mac computer and when i went into origin i clicked play on the sims 4 and the sims 4 icon popped up but nothing happened. so i quit out of origin completely and reopened it and the sims 4 icon never went away so then i tried to force quit out of the app in all three ways and none of them have worked. So when i try to shut down my computer and rebut it, it didn't work because the sims 4 was still open what should i do? Please help!

  • I am have the same issue, only started happening on the after the latest update,  i can exit the game to get back to the Mac desktop screen but the sims is still active and will not shut i have also tried force quit and it does nothing..

  • What worked for me was the Apple menu (the little apple in the top left corner) and then pressing force quit. Hope this helps 🙂

  • im having that same issue, if i force quit it does NOTHING,  i deleted all my cc and it still happends.

    Move your whole Sims 4 folder to the desktop and launch a brand new game, free of all saves and user content. Does it still happen?
