sims 4 stuck on startup screen MAC

I feel like I've tried everything but every time I open the Sims it goes to the black screen, my mouse does the rainbow loading thing and then it goes to that startup screen with blue triangles and then it freezes. I've left it there for almost an hour but it never loads.

I have removed all my CC, I have updated and repaired from Origin several times, I did the reset to factory settings troubleshooting thing. I even gave up and spent half a day reinstalling Sims 4 but nothing has worked. I've had bugs and freezes before (usually due to cc or some issue with other folders) but never anything that's lasted through all this.

UPDATE: y'all im so stupid i just realised i hadn't updated my mac software. have done so now and sims is running fine. not sure how to mark this as resolved so if anyone stumbles upon it can yall pls do that or let me know how to
