Sims 4 won’t launch (stuck on spinning plumbob)

I recently purchased a new MacBook (16 GB of ram & 512 GB of SSD). My old MacBook was a 2014

MacBook Air with 4 gb of ram and 128 gb of SSD.

However, despite its humble specs, it always launched and ran my Sims game smoothly. I upgraded though (for many reasons beside this, but this is the relevant reason), for more storage for CC & mods.

However, I've ran into a problem. I downloaded Sims 4 onto my new MacBook and it won't launch. It's stuck on the spinning plumbob screen in the launch series and won't go to the home screen. Does anyone know why it's doing this and how to fix it? Is it just that this is the first launch and it's going to take awhile? Please help me

Thanks. What exactly happens if Origin is online? Do you get any error messages?

Have you tried a different internet connection such as hotspotting off a phone or a different WiFi network?

I apologize for just now getting back to this. I thought I’d figured it out, but now I want it completely fixed. The game will only load if Origin is in offline mode beforehand. I’ve tried resetting Origin, redownloading Origin, starting a clean save file, repairing the game, redownloading the game, etc., and nothing works. It will still only load if Origin is offline.

I couldn’t find all the specs on my Mac but here’s what I could find—

    Chip: Apple M2 Pro
    Memory: 16 GB

    OS: Sonoma 14.0

    Model: 14 inch 2023

If it’s online, I simply get an eternal loading screen. No error messages or anything. Just a never-ending, spinning plumbob. And yes, I’ve tried it at the library and it still does the same thing unfortunately.

I’ll try it! But if it works then what would be the next step because I wouldn’t want to buy all my DLC again ☹️

You won't have to. Origin should be accessible to you in the new user account as it is installed, by default in the Macintosh HD > Applications folder, not the User Applications folder. So, set up the new Mac user account, open Origin in that account and login and you should see your game and be able to play it.

Hi. So I figured it out… apparently, it *was* my internet connection. I could’ve sworn that I tried to run it at the library, but now I’m remembering that I didn’t because I was in a rush to get home. Thank you for all your help!
