Sims 4 won't load

I recently updated my game and installed the newest expansion pack. Now, when I open my game, I can't get past the title screen— I am stuck on the spinning plumbob loading screen, the one before the main menu loads. I do play with mods, but I took them out before updating and they are currently not in my game. Since this problem has started I have tried: clearing my EA app cache, taking out my "The Sims 4" folder and letting a new one generate, and repairing my game. It looks like the last files to load are the folders "onlinethumbnailcache" and "cachestr" (both empty), and this is consistent across attempts. I have also tried all the above steps multiple times. I am also not getting the "Application Not Responding" response from my Mac, nor am I getting any error messages generated. Any help would be appreciated.
