The Sims 4 bouncing and not loading. Followed other fixes to no avail

Hi all,

I am running MacOS Sequoia 15.0.1

Attempting to play The Sims 4 through the EA App (as that is how I was forced to download a few days ago). I played years ago and stopped, so EA is showing game play from previous years. I downloaded The Sims 4 a few days ago onto a new computer. I followed several threads and attempted clearing the cache, manually clearing the cache by going through folders step by step and "moving to trash." I looked for updates on my computer and for the EA App itself. I tried repairing through EA App, also tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Sims 4, and lastly going into offline mode, all to no avail. The only possible thing I can come up with is that I saw somewhere The Sims 4 Legacy Edition discontinued in 2022? I downloaded The Sims 4 through EA app a few days ago and saw that it automatically includes The Sims 4 Legacy Edition. I am not finding a way to uninstall just that add on. Could this be the issue? Does anyone else have a similar issue? Any help would be amazing as I have spent hours now scouring the forums for help and every single one I have tried has not been successful, neither have I found a way to start a ticket with EA. Help please, thanks in advance

I've attached a picture of what it shows for barely a second before going back into the dock then EA App popping back up onto the screen, not The Sims 4

  • It worked! - also figured out why the first time I followed your amazing directions that it was not working.

Turns out the Mods, Saves, etc. folders were't existing in the Apps folder. They somehow landed in my Documents folder.

So I went Documents -> Electronic Arts -> The Sims 4

Renamed "The Sims 4" folder to a random "TEST The Sims 4" for the sake of changing it to something else.

It auto generated a new folder upon opening (just like you said) and WORKED!

    Thank you so much!

I am definitely more excited than I should be that the game is working again lol.

Great 🙂 Your user data folder (The Sims 4 folder containing mods, saves etc) is always created in Documents > Electronic Arts, never in the Applications folder unless it was moved there. In which case the game will just create a new one in Documents > Electronic Arts.
