Unable to start: The Sims 4 is already running - Mac only

So I just bought the sims 4, and it downloaded on origin. i tried playing and it said the game was already running. I tried looking up how to fix this, but all the methods were for PC not for Mac. My computer meets all the system requirements, and I tried restarting it but nothing works. Can anyone help?

I requested a refund for the game. Its been hours and I haven't been able to play it. Never buying a game from EA ever again.
