Unable to start: The Sims 4 is already running - Mac only

If you're experiencing this error message it doesn't mean your game is already running, the actual message itself is incorrect. It means The Sims 4 cannot access the Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 fold...

I recently put Sims 4 on a SanDisk and I keep getting a "already running" error when I don't have it playing. I already checked my system settings, repaired my game, and removed my mods folder.

You moved your Sims 4 game installation to the external drive or you created a symlink to store the Electronic Arts/The Sims 4 folder on the external?

      Please post a screenshot from System Settings > Privacy & Security > Files & Folders showing the access the game has.
