Elevator dissappearing (invisible)

My sim lives in the penthouse in San Myshuno, I downloaded a pent house from the gallery but when I went to play in it I noticed it didnt have an elevator and sims were getting stuck upstairs or downstairs. In the requirements settings it says there is an elevator on the lot is there any way I can remove that invisible elevator and replace it with a visible one? Or would I have to build doze the lot and try again? I dont know if that would work. I do play with mods.
