7900XTX is not a recognized video card?
Good Afternoon! I have a crash on launch issue with my 7900XTX, saying that the sims 4 is unable to launch due to a unrecognized video card. I'm able to work around with the "-w" argument for launch...

@DizzleByte The "unrecognized graphics card" message is to be expected because EA hasn't added new cards' device IDs to the game's database. But that shouldn't prevent Sims 4 from launching in fullscreen mode. When you've launched in windowed mode and switch back to fullscreen, are you simultaneously changing the in-game resolution to match your monitor? If not, please try that now.
Please also run a dxdiag and attach it to a post.

Thanks for lending a hand, i've attached my dxdiag info.
When i get into the game, and switch to fullscreen my resolution is set to the correct size automatically (2560 x 1440), the only thing i change is the refresh rate from default to 144hz (which i'm sure doesn't make a difference, just a force of habit lol)
Without the window argument, when i close the game after making it fullscreen the game attempts to launch in fullscreen again. I get a short black screen then immediate crash to desktop with the error code.
@DizzleByte How did you disable the iGPU? I ask because the chip is still showing in your dxdiag, including an installed driver, but the entry is missing some info, and the dxdiag itself flagged a problem with the chip. That doesn't necessarily mean there's an actual problem, but perhaps the approach you used is causing problems. The most reliable way to disable the iGPU is in BIOS, and your motherboard's manual should describe how to do it if you're not already familiar with the relevant settings.
I'm not sure at all that this is the problem with Sims 4, but a graphics issue obvious enough for a dxdiag to flag can definitely impact a graphics-intensive application, and it's not unheard-of that the effect would only show up in fullscreen mode.
If disabling the iGPU in BIOS doesn't help, try forcing Windows to use the AMD card for Sims 4. Hit Windows key-i, select System > Display > Graphics settings, click Browse, find TS4_x64.exe on the list, and set it to use the high-performance option, which should list the AMD GPU. Then test again.
If that doesn't help either, please try "windowed fullscreen" (i.e. Borderless) and let me know whether you have the same problem.
By the way, is this a very new Windows install, or at least a new feature update? I ask because there are no Windows error reports at all in your dxdiag, which is highly unusual outside of a new install. It could mean nothing or be indicative of a wider system issue.
@puzzlezaddictI disabled my integrated graphics driver in device manager. I've re-enabled it now, double checked my BIOs for a setting but i don't see an option to disable. The only options i had was to disable multi-monitor output for my iGPU and GPU
I also gave the graphic setting for Sims 4 option you mentioned, unfortunately it still crashes to desktop on launch.
I migrated this hard drive from an older custom build of mine to a new one i made a month ago or so. I upgraded to win11 pro 2h22 about a year ago when it was still in the old build (not a clean install). I also work for the Geek Squad, and check my computers on a regular basis for issues, so maybe that could be why? lol
I've been playing in windowed fullscreen as of late after launching each session, i hadn't tried removing the window launch argument till now though. I've done that now, and it works as intended without the argument when starting with windowed fullscreen.
I'm guessing at this point everything points to EA having to add the device ID for the 7900XTX?
