Can only play one family
Hi there, I'm not too sure if my instance also applies to this case, but I think it's rather similar if not. I contacted EA Live Chat Support tonight, and lovely Syed helped me, but also explained that I should post to the forum to look for help because he/she could not think of any other ways to solve my problem. Here it is:
My Sims 4 only allows me to have one household at a time, meaning that if I make a household, save it, leave the game, and come back a couple days later, and decide to make a new family: when I move in, my other sims are no where to be found. I've repaired my game many times, and I've tried to completely reset it, and nothing is helping. It is incredibly frustrating and has been happening for months, despite me owning the game for years and not having the issue. I really wanted to get it fixed before Sims 4 Pets came out, so any help is incredibly appreciated! If you need clarification to better understand my bug, please let me know! I'm desperate for help at this point! Thank you!

split your post as it's not the same issue as the culling
To me it sounds like you're starting a new game each time. Maxis has changed how that works a few patches ago and you now need to load the game and add a new household by clicking on the button in the lower right corner.
If you do it through the main menu, you start a new save-
