I too had this issue and no tips online solved it for me.
I tried a solution of putting Origin in offline mode and then back to online, started up the game again. This time I could access the gallery again. See if it works for more people, sometimes the simplest solution is the one mostly forgotten.

I am also having this issue. I use mods but I have been able to access the gallery once while mods where installed.

@HelensLazyLotsI have gone offline and back online a few times, logged out and restarted my computer then logged back in, and deleted origin a couple times and I still can't connect to the gallery. Also I've turned off my wifi and then turned it back on again and still nothing. It says i'm online but yet I can't connect. I'm on a mac. I was on a different computer but I left my sims game on it for my cousins to play but I kept origin offline so my game wouldn't be messed with but I guess that prevented zilch. I just deleted my sims and origin off my other computer all together and then deleted origin off my mac and downloaded it again but still the same result.
