Cannot install the 5/4 Sims 4 update

The new Sims4 update (5/4/15) keeps trying to download.  It will pause after a moment and say either the  the down load needs permission to install, or that explorer is preventing the download.  I've turned my firewall off, signed out and signed back in to my Origin account, retried the download several times and nothing happens.  The is nothing in my download folder to download.  There is no pop up for me to grant permission.  (I have windows 8 if that makes a difference.)

  • Try locating the Download Cache Folder usually C:\ProgramData\Origin\DownloadCache and delete the files in there.  I did this and the download and install went through and I was able to play the game again.

Can't guarantee it will work for everyone but it worked for me....playing PC by the way.

  • I continued to have problems for several hours last night.  After signing out of Origin, rebooting my computer, and disabling my firewall, I tried again.  (I also deleted a recent download unrelated to Sims 4 at that time.)  When I again, attempted to download the update, it did download, but did NOT stop at 100%... I actually got as high as 130% download with no sign of the update actually installing.  After a 3rd sign out of Origin, another computer re-boot, and turning my firewall off again, I was able to install AND download the patch successfully, but not without having to pause the download several times once it reached more than 100% installed.  The pausing, in effect, backed up the download to a previous point.... say 80% installed, and resume from there until it reached a 100%+ installed point.  Again I would pause the download, and it would revert to a previous download point of.... say 85%, this time.  Through frequent pausing and resuming I was able to successfully download the update, and installing once the program stopped at EXACTLY 100%.

This shouldn't be this difficult.  ☹️
