cant click anything at all!

I just updated my game, and I was able to open it, go into the game, edit a household, view the gallery, but I needed to exit back to the main menu to change some options. Once I returned to the main menu, I am unable to click on ANYTHING. The most I can do is open the options menu, and the tabs show little red dots as if there is new content, but the main panel is completely empty for all tabs. I can't even exit the game correctly, as click the button for it does nothing. I have to force quit the game with task manager. The buttons all show the little animation when you hover and click still, so I know it's not frozen. But this all happened right after I updated. It is still weird that I was able to enter the game and do everything normally until I returned to the main menu. I've tried restarting the game and my PC, checking to make sure it was completely up to date. I do have custom content, but I can't disable it from the menu to see if that is causing the issue.
