Cats in dogs doesn’t run well on my laptop

@staraitana  If you didn't also create a clean game folder (The Sims 4 folder in Documents\Electronic Arts) after uninstalling Cats & Dogs, that could explain the lag you described.  There could also be a system issue with your computer.  If you'd like to troubleshoot, please reinstall the game, and be sure to remove the Sims 4 folder if it's still in Documents\Electronic Arts.  You can move it to your desktop; the game will create a new one the first time you launch it.

If you still get lag, please run a dxdiag and attach it to a post.

Hi thank you. I’m reinstalling it now. I’ll try again with the suggestions you’ve mentioned. When I reinstalled the first time there was no folder in the game. It created a fresh one.  But I’ll see what happens after the game downloads. 

@staraitana I'm guessing you have a 4Gb memory module and a 2Gb memory (= 6Gb). Memory modules should be matched. Preferably same make and speed (yes, memory modules have speed ratings). Mismatched memory modules can (and usually does) prevent the motherboard from running the memory in dual channel mode. This gives the memory a performance boost.

I’m not too tech savvy when it comes to that lol  It says 6GB it comes with. I was able to run a dxdiag. Not sure to post it here? 

@staraitana  If you haven't replaced the RAM your computer came with, you're probably fine.  You can attach a dxdiag to a post here.  Above the Preview and Submit buttons is a button that says Browse (in my version of the site at least) next to a paper clip icon.  Click that button, navigate to your dxdiag and choose it, and it will be uploaded and attached to the post when you click Submit.

@staraitana  Yes, that's the right information.  How does the game run now?  I wouldn't be surprised if you still had issues though: Sims 4 seems to run poorly on older graphics drivers these days, and your driver is from 2012.  Neither HP nor Intel offers a newer Windows 10 driver for your processor's graphics chip, but I will ask around if there's something else you can use.

Oh, I see. It loads up real quick. The gameplay is ok, but the frame rate still drops every few seconds. It was a little better but not much... I have everything on medium low. Even in cas the frame rate dropped but when back to normal. I’ll try again later. If I can’t get it work run well, then I’ll just have to uninstall the game, but it’s ok I guess. 

 i tested it out just now. In gameplay there is no poor performance just some Frame drops here and there. She’s using this laptop and it will freeze for a second or so doing other things too. It wasn’t doing that before I installed cats and dogs. A few days after installing the EP I got hit with poor performance and  in cas it was extremely laggy. I uninstalled the ep. I know it takes up a lot of resources and memory to run it. 

@staraitana  I guess that's an improvement?  If you haven't already, see how the game does when your computer has nothing else running (besides Origin, of course).  Your laptop will do better if it doesn't need to run any other apps while you play.

You can also try with no internet connection: put Origin in offline mode, disable wifi or pull the ethernet cable, then launch the game.  The improvement is marginal for most people, but it's worth trying.
