Crash

Hi, the game crash in title screen or just playing, I don't use mods.

I've seen that it's not just me since the last update, but is there a solution?

  • Bexear  What exactly did you do: move the same memory modules to different slots, or swap them between their slots, or remove a module or two?  It's possible the RAM is bad or one of the slots is, and if you want to investigate further, you'll need to do some testing.

The gold standard is MemTest86, testing each module separately and in at least two different slots on the motherboard.

    https://www.memtest86.com/index.html
    https://www.overclockersclub.com/guides/memtest86_memory_guide/

Since this is time-consuming, you can use Microsoft's built-in memory diagnostics first:

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/previous-versions/technet-magazine/ff700221(v=msdn.10)?redirectedfrom=MSDN

I wouldn't consider a pass from this tool to be even close to definitive, but if it does flag an error, that's probably accurate.

Finally, I'd like to know what RAM you're using, by product number.  If you don't have that handy, you can find it on the modules themselves.

I changed ram from slot, and now works fine, but I don't what it is, I don't know if they are from slots A1 and B1, or the ram itself, by the way I did the clean reinstall for graphics card video, but didn't work, only changing the ram works

  • Bexear  The BlueScreens are definitely happening.  I see four in your dxdiag, three of which are access violations critical enough to cause Windows to initiate a shutdown.  The other looks like a bad driver.  If you want to try to deal with these too, let me know, but I'm also fine with sticking to the Sims 4 issue.

One of the crashes in your dxdiag might be related to default overclocking settings from the motherboard.  I don't want to send you poking around there if it's not necessary, especially when there's only one such crash, so please do try the clean uninstall and reinstall of the driver first.  But if that doesn't help, the next step would be updating your BIOS, if an update is available.

Also, if you do see another crash while playing Sims 4, please look for new errors in the Reliability Monitor.  Hit Windows key-R and enter "perfmon /rel" without quotes, and you'll see a chart of errors and updates with a column for each day.  Today is on the right.

Look for an error that happened at exactly the time of your most recent Sims 4 crash.  If you find one, double-click it to see more details, then copy that info and paste it into a reply here.  If you don't see a new error, check back in an hour or so—the Reliability Monitor doesn't always update right away.

I'd like to know whether this potential future crash is of the same types in your dxdiag or something entirely new.

Blue Screens? weird, I didn't notice them, and if that happens I would have knew it, and when I play the sims 4, the game just close, the system still working fine and never restart.

Thanks so much for your help

  • Bexear  Your dxdiag lists a couple of crashes of the graphics driver, so please do a clean uninstall and reinstall of the driver, as described here:

    https://crinrict.com/blog/2019/02/clean-re-install-of-graphics-drivers-with-display-driver-uninstaller-ddu.html

Your dxdiag also lists a few BlueScreens.  Are these happening while you play Sims 4, or at other times, or do you not notice them at all?  It's possible they might happen as you shut down the system, or that the system shuts down too quickly for you to see the message, but it's important to know whether they're game-related.
