Crashes after 2-5 minutes in live mode

I never had a crashing issue before today, the last time I played was 5 days ago, and from that time to now, I haven't added anything new to my game. I'm on an older patch (1.112.519.1020) solely because I refuse to update all my mods for the latest patch. (i'm putting it off until they fix the default underwear bug in showers) What I don't understand is nothing has changed from the last time I opened my game, I haven't added or removed anything, nor have I updated my game, and today it randomly started crashing in live mode. I tried rolling back to previous saves thinking it could be corrupted but had the same issue when loading other saves as well. I tried taking all my mods out and its still crashed. I updated all my drivers and my windows but that didn't help either. Please help a girl out <33 (also I saw a few other posts of people having the same issue as me in the past 2-3 days)

  • LilSmallPotato  Most of the Sims 4 errors in your dxdiag are breakpoint errors, which have multiple causes, one of which is an issue with the graphics driver.  Your Nvidia driver is newer than your version of the game, and while the difference isn't large, it's possible that the driver isn't compatible.  So try reverting to an older driver.  You'll need to clean-uninstall your current one, as described here:

Try a slightly older driver, which you can get here:

    https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/drivers/

Make sure you choose Game Ready Driver as the category so you can go as far back as possible.  That may not be necessary, but it's easy to start with the oldest-available version (February 13 in this case) and update from there.  In contrast, any time you want to try an older driver than the one you currently have, you'll need to use DDU to remove it first.

  • also i don't know if this helps but I have no issue with CAS, i played CAS for about 45 minutes with no crashes as an experiment. the game seems to only crash in live mode or when loading into live mode.

  • I just tested moving my sims 4 folder (in electronic arts folder) onto my desktop and starting clean with a newly generated sims 4 folder, no mods, no cc just the base game. and i replicated the issue by creating a brand new save, quitting the game than resuming that save. when i loaded in i let the game play for 4-5 minutes and it crashed on its own. i hope this info helps find us the root cause of the issue :(

thank you so much for looking into it <33 i already have the ddu, but if it's a version incompatibility issue I think i'll just need to get over myself and update my sims 4 and all my mods T*T. after i do i'll check in here again and share if it solved my problem :D

  • LilSmallPotato  Given that there should be a pre-EP patch next week, you might want to wait to update until then.  Using DDU to install an older driver is simple enough in the interim.

i just tried downgrading my nvidia driver to version 572.84 (which was the oldest version available) and the game still crashed. i attached a new dxdiag file with the downgraded nvidia driver.

    Download the files here:

the first link is a dump file from crash dumps prior to downgrading my graphics driver (TS4_DX9_x64.exe.23304)

the second link is a dump file from crash dumps after downgrading my graphics drive (game crashed but there were no s4 dump files but a control center one: ControlCenter.exe(1).18372)

I really do not know what i should do. I need to film videos but i can't because i can't get my game to stay open more than 1-2 minutes :(
