Crashes on startup

So i recently bought  a new gaming laptop and havent had any issues playing games like baldurs gate 3 that have high requirements ( i play on ultra graphs), but when i try to open sims sometimes it doesnt open and when it do open, it freezes making me unable to interact with anything although i hear the music in the background.  Ive tried downloading it from steam or ea directly , updating drivers, i do have latest laptop updates, i forced the game to run with the nvidia graphic , i delated the folders so it creates new ones , anything  i try just doesnt work, EA's assistance said might be a bug so there is nothing they can do.

I dont have any mod or cc

I also got the dx diag but im not sure what i should be seing.

  • Flaviruli  Thanks for the dxdiag, which shows one serious crash of one of the graphics drivers.  So please do a clean uninstall and reinstall of both the Intel and Nvidia drivers, as described here:

    https://crinrict.com/blog/2019/02/clean-re-install-of-graphics-drivers-with-display-driver-uninstaller-ddu.html

Use the drivers provided by Acer for your laptop.  You can get them here:

    https://www.acer.com/us-en/support/product-support/Nitro_ANV15-51

While the Nvidia driver is a bit old, it's probably still fine for Sims 4, and if not, you can update it the normal way.  Reverting back to an older driver, on the other hand, requires using DDU again.  So it's best to try this driver first.

As for why this problem is affecting Sims 4 and not other games, it happens sometimes.

If you get another crash, please look for new errors in the Reliability Monitor.  Hit Windows key-R and enter "perfmon /rel" without quotes, and you'll see a chart of errors and updates with a column for each day.  Today is on the right.

Look for an error that happened at exactly the time of your most recent Sims 4 crash, specifically after reinstalling the graphics drivers.  If you find one, double-click it to see more details, then copy that info and paste it into a reply here.  If you don't see a new error, check back in an hour or so—the Reliability Monitor doesn't always update right away.
