Decent Computer for TS4?
Hey!
So, I'm in need of a new computer for school. After looking through the list of available computers, I have decided that the Microsoft Surface Book 3 would be the best for The Sims 4. As my knowledge in this particular department is very limited, I was hoping if someone could help me out in deciding if this is the best computer.
The Microsoft Surface Book 3 that I'm looking at has the following specs:
- 13.5-inch PixelSense (3000x2000) Display
- 10th Gen Intel Core i7-1065G7 Processor, Up to 3.9GHz
- 16GB 3733Mhz LPDDR4x RAM
- 256GB SSD
- NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 with Max-Q (Up To 4GB)
- WiFi 6 802.11ax compatible
- Bluetooth 5.0
- SDXC Card Reader
- Windows 10 Pro
I'm looking to be able to run a reshade, lots of custom content and a couple of packs. My rubbish MacBook Air can do all of this but the reshade with a decent amount of lag, so this will probably be an upgrade!
Hopefully this all made sense, lol. I'm not the best at explaining.
Thanks in advance 🙂
@motelheaven I've moved your post to the Sims 4 PC tech section.
Yes, this laptop should be able to run Sims 4 on ultra graphics settings, even with Reshade added. The one caveat is that you might need to reduce the in-game resolution a bit; I'm not sure whether the graphics card can quite keep up with the screen's higher resolution. The game should still look very nice at the next-lower supported resolution though, or you could turn a couple other settings down to high if it comes to that. It's fine to experiment with the settings and with Reshade as well to get the effects you're looking for.
Maybe you know this already, but some custom content can be much more demanding than base game items. So it's a good idea to test out the cc you download just to see whether you notice a significant performance hit. It might be totally fine; I'm just saying it's worth checking out.
