ea app opens and crashes immediately and repeatedly

Everytime I open The Sims 4 on my computer, the EA Application opens a window that says "Preparing Game". After a few seconds of an orange loading bar, the app immediately closes itself, then opens again. This continues to happen until I close the EA app completely from the system tray or with Task Manager. No matter where I launch TS4 from, the game ultimately has to launch with EA. Here's everything I've tried to resolve the issue:

- Uninstalled TS4 and reinstalled

- Switch accounts on both Steam and EA (TS4 is free to play, so I wanted to test if it was just something with my accounts)

- Get a fresh copy of TS4 through alternate account

- Check my drivers and updates (all up to date)

- Removed every mod and CC

- EA App Recovery

- Close everything except for Steam and EA App (both are required to be open to launch)

I'm also beginning to wonder if there is an issue with Steam, possibly? My games have been having some trouble launching recently from there.

  • @pompadorbz  Please uninstall the EA App with Revo Uninstaller (the free version is fine), and restart your computer before reinstalling it.

If that doesn't help, please try playing in a clean user folder.  Move the entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop, and when you launch the game, if it launches, a clean folder will spawn with no content.  (Your saves and other content will be intact in the folder you moved but temporarily not read by the game.)  Don't add anything to the new folder yet; just let me know whether you can get far enough to start a new save and play in live mode for a bit.

If that doesn't help either, please run a dxdiag and attach it to a post.

I already attempted the thing where I move the folder onto my desktop- and the EA app is downloaded on my computer, but Uninstaller does not seem to list it as something I can uninstall. The game does not open regardless, and the same "Preparing game" window appears before the app closes itself and then opens again, only to repeatedly do that

@pompadorbz  Your dxdiag crashed multiple times while running and is missing a lot of info.  This could be a glitch, but still, please run a couple of basic checks of your Windows system files:

    • Hit Windows key-X
    • Choose either “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Windows Terminal (Administrator),” whichever option is offered
    • Inside the window that appears, copy and paste “DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth” without quotes, and enter
    • The system will start validating soon. If it throws an error, please list it here
    • After it reaches 100%, hit Windows key-X again
    • Again, choose “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Windows Terminal (Administrator)”
    • Inside the window, copy and paste “sfc /scannow” without quotes, and enter
    • Post the message you receive here

Restart your computer, hit Windows key-i, select Update & Security, and click the box to check for updates.  If any install, restart again afterwards.

For the EA App issue, download a fresh copy of the installer and run it.  You may be asked if you'd like to repair instead; choose that.  Then uninstall it with Revo and reinstall.

"Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations."

And the first thing I tried was to reinstall it and repair the download. It still doesn't show up, unfortunately :')

@pompadorbz  Do you see anything inside C > Program Files > Electronic Arts?  There would normally be an EA Desktop folder here, which you can delete to remove the EA App program files, whatever is left of them.  I would then use Piriform's CCleaner (the free version is fine) to clean out any remaining EA App-related data.  Restart your computer and try again to install the App.

I reinstalled it using the method-- It's still doing the same thing where I try opening the game and the window keeps repeatedly showing up then closing

I am haunted constantly by this thing opening and closing repeatedly

@pompadorbz  Can you open the EA App by itself when you're NOT trying to launch Sims 4 first?  Please let me know what you see when you try.

The app opens just fine on its own. It's only when I try opening The SIms 4 that it freaks out like this. Should I try finding another free EA game and try testing to see if that runs without problem?

@pompadorbz  You could try another EA game, sure.  Apex Legends is free to play.  But please also try opening the EA App first, letting it load, and only then launching Sims 4 from within the App (or Steam if you've currently installed it there).  If that alone doesn't help, run the App as an admin: right-click its desktop shortcut and select "Run as administrator."

I just tried running both Steam and the EA App as admin, waited for both to load, and then tried opening TS4 from both Steam and EA. I got the same results. I am currently downloading Apex through EA instead of Steam as Apex seemed to run through Steam and did not show up in my EA library. I had to install it from the EA app for it to count as a game in my library on the EA App
