Error Code 801 (March 2nd, 2024)

@EmilyMansfield04 Since the update started happening, is the game not launching or crashing when you launch with that 801 error code?

it loads to the main menu, then when i click play or load household, it loads for awhile then the error pops up. and if i try again without exiting after the error code, it just loads endlessly.

@EmilyMansfield04  Do you see orange exclamation points on the world map, like the screenshots in this thread?

If so, it would be great to provide an affected save, as described in the accepted solution on page one.  In that case, you don't need to provide any other system information.

Please also see whether any of your backup saves are unaffected.  Here's how to load one:

Also, another person that commented on this thread mentioned the orange exclamation marks, i've had two of those for awhile now, but i totally forgot about it as it was random and never affected my gameplay or game at all, just thought it was a bug/

I'm having trouble finding the exe for the DxDiag

@EmilyMansfield04  Do you have more exclamation marks now?  If so, it's a known issue and we don't need your dxdiag or any other information, although it would be helpful for you to provide your save.

I'm not totally sure how to provide this. When i try to upload it as a file it just says unsupported extension type. i cannot check if there is the exclamation marks still, i assume yes, but it is only in 1 world that i dont really play in so i haven't checked for awhile. and now, i am totally unable to load into any world, the screen just loads forever.

@EmilyMansfield04  Just to make sure, can you load a new save, with no mods present?  And when you say loading takes forever, do you mean you click Load Game and it loads forever, or that you choose a lot to load and that doesn't work?

just loaded a brand new save with no mods in game, this save works fine. checked the save that's giving me issues, still says error code 801. when i say it loads forever. i mean if i try to load into a world, it just fades into the white screen and doesn't do anything. if i try to load into my family's lot, it is an endless loading screen, when i press resume in the main menu, i get the error code.

@EmilyMansfield04  Can you load any of the backup copies of this save?  I mentioned it before, but that might have gotten passed over in the conversation.  Here's how to try:
