Game crashes frequently after February 13th update

Ever since the update stated in the title, whenever I try to place stairs, color foundations, or click on windows in the build option, my game freezes immediately and crashes. When I am in Create-A-Sim, it will randomly crash after 30-45 minutes and I have not found the trigger for the CAS crash. I do play with mods. I have cleared my cache files, checked the mods for being outdated or needing an update, removed the mods folder, disabled mods in-game, delete save files and started new ones to no avail. The game suddenly has also been very laggy. I have not recently purchased new DLCs or add-ons for the game. I have noticed the gallery is glitched with saving new households to it. I do not know what else to do. Thanks!😊

  • jebber1204  Please provide a dxdiag.  Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.

  • jebber1204  This is exactly what I needed, thanks.  Your dxdiag lists a couple of crashes of the graphics driver, one Sims 4 crash that could be related to the driver, and a handful of Windows errors that may or may not mean anything at all.  Because of the Windows errors, please start with a couple of basic checks of your OS files.  Here's how:

    • Click Windows key-X and choose "PowerShell (Administrator)" or "Windows Terminal (Administrator)" , whichever you see
    • In the window, copy and paste "DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth" without quotes, and enter
    • The validation can take a few minutes; if it throws an error, stop here and let me know
    • Otherwise, copy and paste "sfc /scannow" without quotes, and enter
    • Post the message you receive

Restart your computer, open Windows Settings > Update & Security and click the box to check for updates.  If any install, restart again afterwards.

Once you've done that, the next step is a clean uninstall and reinstall of the graphics driver.  Here's how:

Use the newest driver Intel provides for your graphics card:

    If you get another crash,

please look for new errors in the Reliability Monitor.  Click Windows key-R and enter "perfmon /rel" without quotes, and you'll see a chart of errors and updates with a column for each day.  Today is on the right.

Look for an error that happened at exactly the time of this newest Sims 4 crash.  If you find one, double-click it to see more details, then copy that info and paste it into a reply here.  If you don't see a new error, check back in an hour or so—the Reliability Monitor doesn't always update right away.
