laurenlola22 Thanks for the dxdiag. The driver for your Nvidia GPU is somewhat old, so I'd suggest updating it. You can use the newest release from Nvidia:

Run the installer as an admin: right-click the download and select "Run as administrator." Restart the computer after installing and before trying to play.
If that alone doesn't help, try forcing the game to launch in windowed mode. Open Options.ini, in Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4, search for fullscreen , and set it to 0 (zero).
Hi puzzlezaddict I've finally tried both fixes and neither have worked unfortunately - i'm not sure if it makes any difference, but it seems to work okay if I plug it in to a TV/monitor, but the issue is still persisting when I try and play purely on my laptop alone...
