Low sim bust resolution on opening screen Sims 4

Hi, 

I have gotten a pretty nice pc and graphics card and monitor. 

However the sims 4 homescreen is not sharp at all and my sim on "resume" looks really blurry. 
I've tried changing the resolution, which does nothing. 

I changed the thumbnailconfig siimbust to 128,128 in small or even 256x256, but it just doesn't seem to do anything.
And I can't seem to find anything regarding this topic online.. 

Does anyone have an idea what might be the issue here ? 

I do have an ultrawide monitor 3440x1440, could this be causing the issue?

    Does the game look fine once you load the save? Because the homescreen looks like that for everyone. It doesn't reflect the game graphic settings.

    I'm late but I just stumbled upon your post. Did you delete the localthumbcache file? You need to do that in order for the game to generate new thumbnails. I do the same thing as you, and it works for me.
