Missing Build Mode Objects Glitch

Hi there everyone,

So I recently returned home after a long trip away, and I got my PC upgraded in the process. I had to reinstall the Sims 4 and expansions, and since. I've been having a weird glitch. Where I load into a house/apartment etc, and it tells me that some items have been removed from build mode. However the issue with that is, that some of them are default builds in the game, that I haven't touched yet.

I have reinstalled the games numerous times, repaired them and I even uninstalled Origin and reinstalled it just in case it was due to that. Every pack I own is installed, so there shouldn't be anything missing. I'm sure what is missing or how to resolve this. Any advice, would be hugely appreciated.

I attached a screenshot just to show what's happening.

  • Yeah I did have CC before, but I removed it. However, that seemed to fix the issue. I ticked the custom content box, in the settings restarted the game and then when I went back to the first lot, the message didn't appear again. So apparently that was the cause. Thank you so much for the help @Psychotps!

  • @TheeDrewGamerDoes it happen on every lot? Just the first one after loading the game?

Usually that message comes up when the game was saved when you had something installed that's no longer installed. It could be a game pack, expansion pack, or even mods. If you had a mod installed that provided build/buy mode objects, and it's no longer there, you'll get that message.

It might take some time, but one thing you could do is go through every pack you have, and look up on the web to see what build/buy mode objects should come with it. Then look in your game and see if they're there.

If you have everything from the packs, then it's likely from a missing mod.

It would be nice if the game would tell you what file(s) are missing.

Indeed, it would be extremely helpful for it to tell you what is missing. From what I can tell, it's just the first lot I load into, once the game boots up. I don't have any CC installed in my mods folder, and I've checked, and every pack that I own is installed. I checked to make sure. For that lot, that was in the screenshot, I hadn't placed anything down for it to delete them. So I'm not sure.

@TheeDrewGamer Do you remember if you might have had any CC before? If you had CC before and don't now, that would provide the error.

If you verified you have all the build/buy mode items from all the packs are in fact installed and working, then I wouldn't worry too much. If you maybe had CC and don't now, it'll be exceedingly difficult to figure out which ones you're missing.

You could always do a Save-As and give it a new name. Once you save it, the error should go away. If you do a Save-As, the new save won't error and you'll still have the old one in case you want to check it later.

@TheeDrewGamer Oh! Well, that'll do it too. If your CC is still installed, having that check-box unchecked will turn off your CC, causing the same problem. This is actually the best solution, at least you still have all your CC and everything's working again!
