Mouse stops working on main menu?

Product: The Sims 4
Platform:PC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
What is your current game version number? Latest as of the alopecia update
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? I'm not typing out the 20 or so packs I have sorry but no
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Open the game?
What happens when the bug occurs? Every time I open the game it loads to the main menu but my mouse stops working, the game itself is not frozen because I can still press Esc to open that menu.
What do you expect to see? My mouse working
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Never used.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? No

My mouse works fine for everything else, just not The Sims 4. I just played the game last night with no issues. So far I have tried clearing the EA apps cache and repairing the game on the EA app, as well as restarting my computer and none of these things has worked..

    @psilocyberious  Please try playing with nothing else open other than Sims 4 and the EA App.  Before launching the game, open the Task Manager and close any other running apps, and also look through the background processes list for any services from apps like Steam or Discord that might still be active.  Especially problematic are apps that come with overlays, Discord included.  Please disable the EA App in-game overlay as well.

    If that doesn't help, do the same as above, except this time, also try launching the game in windowed mode.  Go into Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4, open Options.ini, search for fullscreen , and set it to 0 (zero).
