My Game keeps repairing itself

@AshaEth  This does happen sometimes.  Please clear Origin's cache:

Restart your computer, open your Origin game library, and repair the game manually: right-click on the Sims 4 icon and select Repair.  Origin shouldn't try to repair again.  If it still does, disable automatic game updates, which you can find under Application settings > Application > Client update, then clear Origin's cache again.

One other reason for Origin to start repairing is if you also use the EA Desktop App and use the app's recovery function.  That flushes some data that Origin needs, so Origin will verify your games again the next time it's open.  But this isn't relevant if you don't use the Desktop App.

Thanks but I’ve done all of that already and it doesn’t work. This has been happening for a while now. 

@AshaEth  Do you use a third-party antivirus, or perhaps some sort of cleaner app that removes temporary files?  Do you have the game installed on an external drive?

@nanaendo  When you're ready to play, do you plug in the external drive before opening Origin, while there are no Origin-related tasks running in the background?  (Please check the Task Manager's background processes list to make sure.)  Does the external always receive the same drive letter?  Windows assigns letters in the order in which the devices are connected, and if Origin expects the game to be on D but it's now on E, for example, that will cause problems.

Another potential issue is an antivirus deleting one or more Sims 4 files.  If you use a third-party program, please let me know which one.

You can also try moving the game (right-click on the game tile and select Move) to another folder on your external.

@eemiliak  Try completely disabling the cleaner app.  If you don't want to uninstall it, at least disable it from starting: hit Windows key-R, enter "msconfig" without quotes, click the Services tab, and uncheck the box next to any service that belongs to the cleaner app.  Then restart your computer and repair the game again.

Hopefully it sticks this time, but let me know if not.  In that case, please also list any antivirus you use.

I removed my cleaner programs today with no luck. Are there any built-it ones I need to un-check?

@eemiliak  No, there shouldn't be anything built into Windows that would cause this particular problem.  Try moving the game to a different location on your computer.  Don't just drag and drop; let Origin do the work.  First, clear Origin's cache, even if you've done so already:

Next, create a new folder that's not in Program Files (x86) or Documents.  For example, you can create a folder called Games that's directly on the C drive.  Open your Origin game library, and when the repair is done, right-click on the Sims 4 icon and select Move Game.  Choose the new folder and let Origin do the moving.  Then restart your computer and see whether Origin tries to repair again.

If this doesn't help, I really do need to know about any antivirus you use.
