My Sims 4 Game Updated and Reset Everything

I updated my Sims 4 game. It switched over Origin to the EA app and at the end of the update, it said something like "account error" or something along those lines. When I opened the game, it was showing that I have played for 1452hrs, yet acting like I was starting new. No saved Sims, no saved lots, I didn't have access to My Gallery, there was no Load Game option that was click able.

I looked up online that you can go into your Electronic Arts Folder, then Saves, then find your last save point and load it in the game ID you rename it to your last save point (after moving the .save version somewhere else). I moved the .save, then tried to rename my .save.ver0 version, but....

Every time I try to right click on the file, it closes my documents  folder entirely. Then I tried to go back into my Saves folder, and it closed my documents again. Wouldn't even let me. I had to enter the Saves folder from the lefthand shortcut, but again it closed the documents folder when I either tried to right click it, or press F2 to rename.

I tried Repairing the game in the EA app, but it didn't help. I even tried the Advanced Launch in the EA app, but there is no drop down menu and instead wants me to type something.

Also, it did end up giving me access to My Gallery after I made a random Sim so I could see what it was showing in-game.

I don't have OneDrive set up.

it is an HP laptop.

Can anyone help???

I worked so hard on everything....

  • @maddiesyn  It sounds like something else might be going on with your computer that has nothing to do with Sims 4.  So please start with a virus scan.  Download Malwarebytes (the free trial is fine) from here:

    https://www.malwarebytes.com/mwb-download

Open it, click Scan > Custom Scan > Configure Scan, check all the boxes both for scans and for every drive listed (C and anything else you see), and let it do its job.  This can take anywhere from a few minutes to multiple hours, depending on the size of your drive(s) and what Malwarebytes finds.  Please attach its report so I can take a look.
