My sims isn't working? It's been like this for days

I've been trying to play the game for the last week since the update. I can't get into, it won't let me start a new game to play. The only thing I could do is go into create a sim but I cant save nor continue to play from there. I do have mods, but that has never been a problem after a update before. I repair my game almost every day to no help. I have videos but it's not letting them be posted.

  • Coldmilk5030  Please test with no mods or custom content, as in, move the Mods folder to the desktop and delete localthumbcache.package.

    If that doesn't help, please try playing in a clean user folder.  Move the entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop.  When you launch the game, a clean folder will spawn with no content.  (Your saves and other content will be intact in the folder you've moved but temporarily unread by the game.)  Don't add anything to the new folder yet; just start a new save and see how it runs.

    If you still can't play, please provide a dxdiag.  Hit Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.
