I'm having this exact same problem and I turned off in game overlay and that worked but after after this most recent update the problems back
@shiro_1202 Another player mentioned recently that they needed to disable the Origin in-game overlay both overall and specifically for Sims 4. So please try that: open your Origin game library, right-click on the Sims 4 icon, select Game Properties, and uncheck the box next to Origin in-game. If that's the setting that's already disabled, hover over your username, select Application Settings, then the Origin in-game header, and disable the option at the top.
If this doesn't help, disable any other overlays you have running: Steam, Discord, etc.
