Problems with needs randomly changing caused sim baby to be taken away

I noticed last time I played that my Sims had low needs even though when I saved and quit the day before, their needs were full. Now I turned on my game and immediately got a message saying a social worker has taken away my family's baby!

I know the baby was fine when I saved and quit before. Is there anything I can do? I didn't save in hopes of reversing it somehow. I spent a lot of time on that baby and really would rather not do it all over again...
