Finally googled the issue and found this thread. For the last 4 hours, did eveything everyone suggested and nothing worked..

As someone suggested, I went to Origin and right clicked on the game to hit "repair" and was actually able to get to one of my families! Although a minute later when I wanted the kids to "travel" to where their parents were, the loading screen took me right back to the Map...The "fix" lasted a minute. Did the same thing again only nothing happened....

Now that the holidays are over, you would think that someone has to be working on this.

I completely agree. I have two weeks off work over Christmas and New's Year. I got the game for Christmas and had every intention of playing non-stop until I had to go back to work. It's disappointing that Maxis doesn't see their customers concerns as a priority. I know they deserve a break. But people pay good money for their stuff. You'd think it'd be a priority to make things work. 

Just sayin. This may be the last Sims game I ever buy, and I've been a player since the beginning.
