Hi Crin,
I've just created a backup and deleted the game folder, then restarted the game. It allowed me to load a new game, create a sim and then I tried to move that sim into an empty lot on Sulani and it froze completely again (no music playing, loading screen plumbob not rotating etc.) ☹️

Could you post your Computer's DxDiag?
To gather a DxDiag on your computer, please follow the steps here: https://help.ea.com/en-us/help/pc/how-to-gather-dxdiag-information/
You can attach the txt file to your post directly. Hi Crin,
Please find attached the requested info. Unfortunately the game is freezing every time I play it now ☹️ no matter the neighbourhood or household. My PC isn't the best so maybe that's got something to do with it. Really appreciate all your help so far!
- crinrict5 years agoHero+@taybelle149 Your graphics chip is def. bit on the low side (it barely makes minimum requirements). The drivers are also from 2016, so check if there's any new ones for your laptop.
What settings are you playing on ?
Is it a complete freeze where the game doesn't move at all or are the Sims themselves frozen while you still see background motion ? Hey Crin,
Yeah, I agree with the graphics card and drivers not being the best, however not sure why these problems haven't occurred before now. I'm running the game on "low" settings and on laptop mode. Should I try uninstalling the expansion packs I bought recently (like Eco Lifestyle)? If so, how do I do that?
What's happening now is that when I press "play" on any household in any neighbourhood, the loading screen comes up with the blue background and the spinning green plumbob, it spins a couple of times with the music playing as normal in the background and then after a few seconds the music stops, the plumbob stops spinning and the whole screen freezes. Then I have to exit the game via task manager.
Thanks again for all your help!
- crinrict5 years agoHero+@taybelle149 Hm, have you tried a clean boot to see if any background programs are interfering ? Sounds like something else is going on other than just low specs.
https://help.ea.com/en/help/faq/how-to-clean-boot-your-pc/
If it works in that mode, then it's a background program interfering and you will need to find out which one.
I would def also update your drivers. Hi Crin,
Have tried clean reboot today and it made no difference. Have downloaded and installed Intel updates, which didn't help either. The driver updates from Acer don't seem to be available for the Display/Graphics, only sound, touchpad etc and they are dated 2017/01/09. I also did a disc cleanup.
Is there a way for me to uninstall the packs I have bought since this issue started happening to see if they are the problem?
I took a video of what happens when I try and play but it's telling me it's too large to upload with my reply here.
Thank you
@crinrict Hi Crin, I've just repaired the game via origin and it seems to be working normally now, I've been able to open a Sulani household which is more than I've been able to do for weeks. Hopefully this means no further issues 🙂 fingers crossed, thank you again for all yur help troubleshooting.
- crinrict5 years agoHero+@taybelle149 Glad to hear that.
To uninstall a pack, there's three ways, two of which are unsupported and you'll be doing at your own risk
- Uninstall the whole game and only reinstall what you want (supported method)
- Disable the pack: https://sims4.crinrict.com/eng/2017/03/disable-single-packs/ (probably best method to just try stuff, unsupported)
- Uninstalling by deleting the files (unsupported): https://sims4.crinrict.com/eng/2015/08/uninstall-single-packs/
