I realise this is a very old thread, but just in case anyone is looking for answers to these questions, there's a couple things I've found out that others may not know:

First off, if it's a holiday, you won't be able to have an event with goals, and secondly, to make it easier to have 3 people dancing or whatever at the same time, click on each guest, go to "actions", and select "add to group". Then you can click on the stereo, and pick dance with group, or w/e the option is. Hope this helps someone, happy Simming 🥳
