Re: Sims 4 crashes every 10 minutes or so

Upgrading the power supply would help, it wouldn't improve the value of the computer but, it would help that new graphics card work properly. That might be affordable for you. Search at Newegg for Micro ATX Power Supply. The usually have some DELL ones in there that are 300 to 400 watts for under 100 USD.

@DarkAmaranth1966, thanks. I'll look into it.

In the meantime, I have a new DxDiag.  Yay! (I am such a tool.)

    Thanks,

    Jennifer.

P.S. - My old games still crash, but I'm going to start a new one and see if I can get past the 24-hour bump. I'm so tired of starting out broke with new households!

Your DXDIAG looks good for what that computer is. It appears to be up to date so, that's good.

It is set to conserve battery power when it isn't plugged in and, that throttles down how much power any component inside can use so, you may have better results if you keep it plugged in when you play.

It is also going to be prone to over heating, especially that graphics card because it is barely getting the power it needs and, that may hamper the fans from cooling it properly. That alon can cause a crash.

You can help that a bit, make sure the computer is not inside a cabinet or desk so that it gets as much fresh, cool air as possible. Use a small air compressor, like the kind used to do nail art or air brush work or, buy a couple of cans of Electronic Duster (that's compressed air too.) turn off an unplug the computer then, open the case and use the compressed air to blow as much dust out of it as you can. Pay special attention to fans and the CPU cooler (silver fin looking thing) in there. Use a lint free, slightly dampened with rubbing or denatured alcohol cloth to wipe down all of the case vents. Close it up and plug it back in and turn it back on. try to do that once a month or so to be sure it stays as cool as possible inside.

@Jennifer4Sims The new dxdiag looks good (except for the power supply may be an issue). Are you plugging the monitor into the new card?

Hi. I didn't even make it to the 24-hour mark before the game started crashing. I am going to delete all of my previous games and see if that will help. If anyone has any other ideas, I am open to them.

    Thanks,

    Jennifer.

What you could do is update all your drivers. As you have an Del:

    http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/04/Products/?app=drivers

That might help. And try opening the GeFore Experience:

    http://www.geforce.com/geforce-experience

And let that set your settings in game as the most optimal.
Which would be medium on your Graphics card, also see:

You have the: NVIDIA GeForce GT 730

@Phantomlover1717, I updated my drivers when I upgraded my video card. Thanks for the suggestion.

All - I was reading other posts and I found that there is a lastcrash file that might help. I am attaching it just in case. Please let me know if you spot anything.

Also, how can I delete old games? They crash and I cannot use them, so I thought deleting them might help.

    Thanks,

    Jennifer.

I would suggest making a back up:

    http://sims4.crinrict.com/en/2014/09/backups/
Or rename The Sims 4 folder (located: Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4).

The game will recreate a new folder after you do that. So you'll get a clean game.

It could also might help to clean out your screenshots folder, that can cause issues sometimes too.

@Phantomlover1717, I will try renaming the folder. Thanks for the idea. I'll see if it continues to crash after that.

    Thanks,

    Jennifer.
