@juliett006  Are you playing in DirectX 9 or 11 mode, and does it help to switch?  Here's how:

Additionally, does this happen in a new save as well, with no mods or custom content?  Please test if you haven't already, and use one of the default builds in a base game world.  For a complicated lot, the Spencer-Kim-Lewis household in Willow Creek is a useful test; for a less-busy lot, any starter home that a new sim can afford would be fine.
