Sims 4 black screen when selecting anything in build/buy

Everytime I select anything in build/buy the screen goes black. If I tab to the desktop and then back the screen will be back but anytime I click anything including options or switching to live mode ...

windowed does not work. 

It locks you out until the timeout and then resets it back to last saved settings.

Trying 8.1 and new graphics drivers, will update if this fixes it.

    upgrading to windows 8.1 won't do anything. I'm using windows 8.1 with the newest graphics drivers

    I hope it does work. I might then try uninstalling, and reinstalling my graphics drivers.
