Sims 4 farm items won't show other than a red X in build mode.

Hello!

I am having issues with sims 4 cottage living, I haven't got any mods or custom content installed. However, whenever I type in farm a lot of the items are missing in build mode and aren't showing up what they are apart from the price and title, the only image they do show is a red X on each item and they all say DEBUG. I have not used the debug cheat either. The only cheat I have used is motherlode. I have repaired the game as I was suggested to, and nothing worked. Can I please have advice?

Thanks.

  • @xion123456xxx  Are all items from one particular pack, e.g. Cottage Living, affected; or are some but not all items from one or more packs affected?  Did you previously have mods or custom content installed, and if so, did you remove them before or after this problem showed up?  Does your computer run Windows or macOS?

@xion123456xxx  Please delete and reinstall Cottage Living.  Go into the game's program files, which will be here by default in an EA App or Steam install, respectively:

    C:\Program Files\EA Games\The Sims 4

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\The Sims 4

If you're not sure where the game is installed and you use the EA App, open the App's game library, click Sims 4, then Manage > View properties, and you'll see it there.

Close the EA App, then open the Task Manager and kill the EABackgroundService, which will be under background processes.  Open the install location and delete the EP11 folder.  Then open Delta inside the Sims 4 folder and delete EP11 from there too.  Clear the EA App's cache:

Restart your computer, and repair the game: open your game library, click Sims 4, and select Manage > Repair.  Then select Manage > Manage add-ons, and redownload Cottage Living.

@xion123456xxx  This isn't an issue with the CD key, which either works or doesn't.  In your case, the pack is in your account and the EA App lets you install it, so that's all that matters.

Instead, please try playing in a clean user folder.  Move the entire Sims 4 folder to the desktop, and when you launch the game, a clean folder will spawn with no content.  Your saves and other content won't load, but that's fine and can be addressed later.  For now, just start a new save and see whether the problem is still present.

If it is, please do a clean uninstall of Sims 4 and the EA App:

    • Put aside your Sims 4 folder in Documents\Electronic Arts and rename it to something that doesn't include the words "Sims 4."
    • Download Revo Uninstaller (the free version is fine) from here.
    • Launch Revo, select Sims 4 from the list, and click Uninstall.
    • Once the game is uninstalled, select "Moderate" under "scanning modes," and click Scan.
    • Review the list, in case there's something you want to save; otherwise, click Select All, and then Delete.
    • Close Revo, and restart your computer.

Uninstall the EA App with Revo as well.  The process is the same, except Revo will also find some registry entries that you should delete.  Restart again when you're done.

Install the EA App, then create a new folder into which you'll install Sims 4.  The folder should be on the root level of the drive of your choice, for example C:\Games is fine, but not C:\Program Files\Games.
