Sims 4 Gallery Loading

So this has been a recurring issue. I have this sim that I uploaded to the gallery a little over a year ago. If I try to download him from the gallery, it shows the loading icon, but it takes way too long. I'm not patient enough to see if it'll actually download the sim. And it's just with this one sim; anything else I download only takes a few seconds or so. Is this possibly part of the problem? I could try to remove it but I think the sim will disappear if I remove him from the gallery, as I've had to uninstall and reinstall my game a couple of times.

Oh okay so I think I understand!
    1. You made a sim and uploaded him to the gallery

    2. You have uninstalled/reset your game previously, so you do not have him in your local library anymore

    3. You want to add him to your library to play with him again but the gallery is just loading and you cannot add him

Is this correct? So then you do not have him in your tray-files, probably. Disregard my last message lol I did not understand :P

What you could do, just to try, is this:

    • Go to C:\Users\Username\Documents\Electronic Arts\ and copy the Sims 4 folder to your desktop (you now have one backup)
    • Rename the The Sims 4 folder in C:\Users\Username\Documents\Electronic Arts\ to The Sims 4 Backup (you now have 2 backups)
    • Start the game. None of your things in your library, potential mods and no saves will be there. Start a new save and create a random sim. Click the X instead of moving the sim in a new house when prompted.
    • Go to the gallery, search for your sim and try to add him to your library.  If this does not work exit the game and skip the green steps.
    • Go to your library. double check that he is there and also delete the other random sim you just created from the library.
    • Save and exit game.
    • Go to C:\Users\Username\Documents\Electronic Arts\, and you'll see that the game created a new The Sims 4 folder. Open it, go to Tray, sort files by date. The 5 newest should be your sim, copy them and move them to a new folder on the desktop, just to make a clean backup of him.
    • Move back one folder at a time from one of your backups, into the new folder the game created.
      • Options.ini - your game settings
      • Saves - your old saves. The sub-folders are not needed. If putting these back causes problem, try putting one back at a time.
      • Screenshots
      • Custom music - if you have any
      • Mods - your mods and cc, might cause problems when putting back
    • Make sure your sim is still in your library alive and well, might even wanna try to edit him or put him in the world to see if he works.
    • Put back your Tray folder. (make sure you still have one backup of this)
If windows explorer tells you that several files have the same name, do not overwrite anything, just leave the old files with the same names in the backup folder.
    • Start the game again and see if it works.

Please report back if it works or not, I'm yolo:ing a bit here (but you won't loose anything!) :D

    Hi!

Do you only have a problem with your game when you try to download this sim? Is it your sim or did someone else create him?
It's unclear what your problem is, if it's just a problem with you downloading him, can't you just avoid that? 🙂
If you created him and have him in your library, maybe you have files in your Tray-folder that are corrupt.

You could copy the Tray folder from C:\Users\Username\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\ and put it on your desktop, and then remove him from the game. You can also remove his files from the Tray-folder, but it can be hard to find out which files are his, please tell me if this is something you would like to do and need help with 🙂

Whoops! I don't know what happened, but it looks like I left out some information that I meant to add. 😅 Sorry about that. And he was a sim I created and uploaded to the gallery. But I think what was causing the issue was that his thumbnail picture was CC content. And well, I didn't want to have him removed from my game so I could give him a makeover, but that ended up being the case anyways. I removed him from the gallery, and because I've had to uninstall and reinstall my game in the past, I'm not really sure if he's there anymore He didn't mess up the game in any way, at least. It was just that for some reason whenever I tried to download him from the gallery or even save him to my library, that little loading icon would pop up and I would have to wait. Which I tried doing last night, for probably around an hour, and yet it was still loading. So I just gave up and removed him from the gallery. 😕 I'm not sure if any files in my Tray are corrupted, but if it's still a good idea to check, I'd be fine with that.
