Sims 4 Live mode not loading

hi, i tried playing sims this evening and my live/play mode will not load at all, by this i mean i end up on the loading screen for about half an hour before i eventually give up. it has only started doing it this afternoon as i played earlier today absolutely fine with no issue whatsoever. my build/buy mode loads with no problem, as does CAS so im very confused as to why this will not load. does anyone have any ideas to why its doing it?

hi, i only play one save file and only one household on that save although i have tried playing on different households to see if it would load and it didn’t. i’ve recovered a few versions of my save file to see if it was a save file issue and nothing loads on the recovered ones either.

@molliere  If you use mods or custom content, please move the Mods folder to the desktop and try again.  You don't need to save your progress; this is just for testing.

If that doesn't help, or you don't use mods or cc, please open Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 and delete any lastexception files you find.  Try again to load your main household, still with no mods or cc, and see whether you get a new LE.  If you do, open it, delete its first line, and attach it to a reply here.

If you don't get an LE, please try loading a new save.  If that doesn't work either, please run a dxdiag and attach it to your reply.

hi, i tried this morning with a new save file and its loading absolutely fine, i went back to my main save and CAS is now loading but my household still won’t load to live mode. i’ve tried without any mods or cc and it still won’t work. i’m not getting any last exceptions whilst playing either.

@molliere  Try loading a different household in the same save.  If that works, play that household for a while, then try to switch back to your main one.

If you still can't load the main household, please evict the sims and place them somewhere else, preferably a blank or EA-made (and unedited) lot.  Try to load them there, and the house without them in it, to see which one is the problem.

i’ve tried 2 different households on that same save, i’ve moved them onto a completely empty plot and that also didn’t load.

@molliere  And you still don't get any lastexceptions when trying to load one of these households?  What if you split them into multiple households of one sim each—is one sim broken while the others are fine?  It's just difficult to figure out what the problem is without an LE to give some context.

one of the household sims is a toddler, so i’ll have to move the toddler into a separate household, although i’m starting to think it could be an issue with my toddlers in my save as the other household i tested out also had a toddler in it and didn’t load.

hi, i’ve figured out that the issue is indeed the toddlers. it’s not any cc on the toddlers as i had already tried it without but i moved the toddler out the household and now it’s working good as new. i don’t think any of my toddler cc or mods are broken so i’m a bit confused still but i’m glad i know the root of the problem. do you know anything that causes this?

@molliere  I do know of one cause, which is an issue with milestones.  More specifically, milestones are attached to the object on which they were achieved, and if that object is custom content, you can have an issue if you remove the cc or if it breaks in a future patch.  The thing is, this particular issue normally creates a lastexception with a very particular error in it.  Still, you can try adding the milestones fix here:

Other than that, I don't know of an issue that would break toddlers and also not be fixed by removing your mods and custom content.  But it's worth adding back your mods, a few at a time; except replace them all with the most updated versions you can find.  If you're not sure which version you have, download a new copy.
