Sims 4 not working after EA app update

I updated the app as it told me to today but now when I go to start up The Sims 4 it says it's already running in the background, and I get an error sign.

  • Hello, not sure if you are still having trouble. But for me, that happens when I click the app too many times and my laptop tries to open it twice. I have 2 origin icons (shown in picture) which will result in the same error message as you. To resolve this, you have to force quit the app; or me on a MacBook Air the controls are option+ctrl+esc. Which then opens a menu for me to close the 2 apps and my game will no longer give those error messages. 

  • If your game is running in the background if using a laptop take three fingers and swipe up and you should see the game, just click on it to open again. hope this helps
