Hello, I just downloaded the Sims 4 on PC and after launching it from steam, it says "preparing game", only to flash white and then lock onto a black screen. I can hear the sound from the game most of the time it does this. I am unable to operate the comptuer and I have to manually restart it. I've tried every "fix" I've found on these forums and beyond to no avail, and I have no MODS. Thanks for help.
JoiChoi Thanks for the dxdiag, which doesn't show any specific reason Sims 4 isn't working. It does list some generic Windows errors though, so please run a couple of basic checks of your system files:
Restart your computer, hit Windows key-i, select Update & Security, and click the box to check for updates. If any install, restart again afterwards.
Please also tell the game to launch in windowed mode. Open Options.ini, in Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4, search for fullscreen , and set it to 0 (zero). This may fix the issue, but even if it doesn't, it should at least allow you to use the computer in general when the game locks up.

I am having the same issue. After step 3. I got this error, Error: 740. What will I do next?

kaylenecassy Error 740 means you're running the regular version of PowerShell or Windows Terminal, not the one with (Administrator) in the name. You need to use the Admin version to run these commands. I'll answer you further in your other thread.
