Sims Crashing since update

The game is crashing since the recent update. I shouldnt have to move files around and do a bunch of backdoor tasks to get the game to run. Has EA made a statement? Are they working to fix this issue? I have no mods either.

  • Blonde_D422  The game is overall about as stable as it's always been.  Having dealt with a lot of crash threads in the last week, I can tell you that almost all of the issues are on the user side, everything from incompatible mods to an old graphics driver to an unsupported OS.  That's why helpers start with user-side suggestions.

So, if you'd like help with your crashes, please remove any files in ConfigOverride, in Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4.

If that doesn't help or isn't relevant, please try playing in a clean user folder.  Move the entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop, and when you launch the game, a clean folder will spawn with no content.   (Your saves and other content will be intact in the folder you've moved but temporarily not read by the game.)  Don't add anything to the new folder yet; just start a new save and see how it runs.

If you get another crash, please provide a dxdiag.  Hit Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply here using the camera (Insert Media) icon with the other formatting buttons.
