Sims have their umbrellas open indoors during thunderstorms

I have to say I am waiting to see what happens with those houses people have built using the split-stairs tutorial where you have to move a roof from another building block because it won't let you build one directly over your split stairs block.   I wonder if that will truly count as indoors for behaviour rather than cosmetically.  Did you build the house using any such little tricks?
