Sims4 Progress Gone - Please help!

Hello,

I have a problem with the Sims4.

First it wasn't loading for days, because of a "technical issue on their end", it said I should try again later. This continued for several days.

So I tried restarting the app, the game, my computer, nothing worked. I finally hit repair game and then I was able to open the game again but all my progress was gone and it asked me to start a new game. Also it was now in English instead of the original language.

I have asked the support chat and tried several things with them such as reinstalling both the app and the game but nothing seems to be working. I can still see my .save files though from the last time I played (the progress that I want to continue with) but it seems like the game is not accessing those files anymore but has created another sims4 folder when I did the repair. Can someone help me to get my progress back please? That would be super helpful.

Thank you!

@arielle2punkt0  The language options should show up when you initially choose to install the game:

Or you can simply copy your save files from "Die Sims 4" to "The Sims 4," and they'll work fine.  They're inside the saves folder, naturally.  From what I understand, the saves will still have German names for sims and locations, but the text will of course be in English.

  • @arielle2punkt0  What language did you play in before?  A few of them—Spanish, French, German, Dutch—have localized user folders, e.g. "Los Sims 4" instead of "The Sims 4."  When the game switched to English, it would use "The Sims 4" instead of the previous folder with a localized name.

The only supported way to change the language of Sims 4 is to reinstall it, unfortunately.  So if you want to go back to the original language, please uninstall, and let me know what languages are available when you reinstall.

@puzzlezaddict Thanks so much for the quick reply.

My game was in German before. And yes I still have the German titles folder "Die Sims4" which also has my latest .saves that I want to continue from. However, it looks like the game is not accessing that folder but instead created another folder when I repaired in in English "The Sims4".

I don't mind the language change, my main issue is getting my progress back. Would this help with that as well?

I had alraedy reinstalled the game before. But I can't see any language options, where would these be? My EA app is still in german, even the title of the game, only when I open it it changes.

@puzzlezaddict  Thank you so much! I was able to move the .save files over and have got my progress back, yay!

I might still reinstall to change the language again, but very happy the first issue is solved now, so thanks a lot for your help!
