Forum Discussion
@siirysiir No, I am never sure of anything, and I try my best to take care not to give that impression - so sorry that I did!
I have noticed the 'reset' in several places, but mostly in the lot assignment: Bars, and both in testing saves in new folders; and in my own 'playsave', with a long-term rotational play. I see the sims reset when they order drinks, but that does not mean it is the reason; or that it would be the only reason. I have not really tested it further than for a thread surfaced in this section, where the OP never came back and so I just laid the testing on ice.
There are a couple of bug reports made for sims resetting, but it all seems a bit vague; perhaps, and I'm guessing here, because it is hard to test, replicate, and find the origin of the issue; both for players that freely engage in this forum, and, assumedly, for the developers of the game.
I don't mind testing this though, it's entertainment for me, but I'm unsure of how to preceed, and where to post, and in way, what to do. The bug reports are rarely detailed, and I do think that such an issue would benefit from the ones experiencing it, and creating threads about it, to add as much detail they can, to make it easier for anyone wanting to replicate. I am unsure of how the EA hired personell handles the bug forum here, but they do seem to rely on an issue being replicated, in gameplay, and narrowed down; before they start investigating on their own, including 'looking at the code'. It would be good to have any information or confirmation on how their system works, to make it easier to understand how in some small ways we players can help, so that it doesn't feel completely redundant posting in the bug threads.
I guess I get easily addicted on testing out a bug since I've done sw testing in a previous job and I'm a computer engineering student :D And yeah some of these bug reports are maybe not that descriptive so I feel like I have to chip in to up the chances for a certain bug of being patched out ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Bummer that this one (if it even is a single bug *sigh*) seems to be particularly hard to single out.
I completely agree on that would be great to know a bit more to be able to be a better bug reporter. I've been kinda considering taking up modding tho so it might help a bit, we'll see 🙂
- crinrict5 years agoHero+@siirysiir Did you have it again and have any exception ? Resets happen a lot in the game. It's basically an error occurring and the game is unable to finish the interaction. On public spaces, often more than one Sims are involved and the reset happens for all of them
To find the cause, the LastExcpetion files is the best info to get. - siirysiir5 years agoSeasoned Ace@crinrict Unfortunately I've been building quite a lot after my simming break and the little gameplay I've done hasn't really involved going to a lot of community lots except for some parks but I haven't seen it happen there. My first instinct would be to use bars/nightclubs where I for some reason had it happen repeatedly on a certain (modded!) save. Of course might be due to the fact that nightclubs attract more sims and have more activities. I'll be sure to keep an eye out for that on community lots when I get to do more actual gameplay and of course look for any LEs.

@siirysiir Yes, in defense of the OP's of the bug report threads, the template for reporting a bug is too simple, and a bit confusing appearantly. I do think it is made with the younger simmer/customer in mind, but that the intent is good and execution less so. The question of what triggers the bug, and therefore perhaps the most interesting thing in the bug reports; is seldom understood and answered. It would be very appreciated if someone knowledgeable in the area of programming to engage in the bug forum. There are som very good posters right now; but more would be better.
- siirysiir5 years agoSeasoned Ace@DonroaAkashu Yes, I'm sure it's most of the time not laziness rather just not really knowing how to compose a good bug report. One solution to improve the instructions might be to provide a good example like "this is a good bug report and why".

@siirysiir That is a very good suggestion and one I haven't thought of!
There actually happens to be a Feedback section here, where such ideas hopefully, eventually, reaches the ones in charge 😉

Hey wow, haven't been there / fully realised there's a feedback section but of course there is! :D Thanks for the link, I think I'll go and drop that suggestion there! 😉
edit: @DonroaAkashu so I posted this in the feedback section🙂
