Sudden Severe Lag
So I have had Sims 4 for a while since I believe Get To Work and have not had any issues with major lag, just the normal minor issues occasionally. But within the past month or so I have had such severe lag the game is virtually unplayable. It started with an issue with my EA app, basically that the app couldn't locate the game. After uninstalling the EA launcher and reinstalling it that issue has been resolved but now I'm dealing with the lag. I have uninstalled the game through Steam as well as verified the files through Steam. I have completely removed all mods from the mod folder as well as removed all previous saves and tray items in the Sims 4 folder as well as deleted the localthumbcache.package before starting a completely new blank save that is still lagging so badly I can barely get through CAS to actually test the game itself. I checked for driver updates about a week ago while dealing with this and found 2 and updated them but I am still experiencing the issue. Just for context, I have had the Get To Work and Cottage Living expansions for a while and had no issues but right as this issue started I downloaded the Seasons expansion, Parenthood, and Laundry Day as well as the Greenhouse Haven Kit. I've been searching these forums to see if there is anything I could have missed to try but at this point, I figured it may just be best to ask and see if there is anyone who knows more who can help me try and figure out what could be going on. I've included the dxdiag file so someone who knows how to read it can see what I might be missing.
@NurseLeo417 Thanks for providing the dxdiag, which shows no clear culprit but a couple of potential issues that may be simple to address. Please try pausing OneDrive syncing. Right-click the cloud icon in the lower-right corner of the screen to see the option.
If that doesn't help, please try playing in windowed mode. Go into Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4, open Options.ini, search for fullscreen , and set it to 0 (zero).
