The Sims 4 after switching to ea from origin

Hello everyone,

A few weeks ago I switched to EA App from Origin. and yesterday I wanted to play with The Sims 4. I tried to launch it, but a window came up with this: This title may have been downloaded to your device by another user who owns the game. Log in to a different account or restart the app to try again.

I got this at 100% of the time i try to launch the game. I logged in into my account, I only changed my email a few days ago but the account is the same.

I bought the Sims 4 trough the internet and I have a CD but my laptop hasn't got a CD reader. I also bought the Cats And Dogs DLC, and I'm afraid of losing it.

I've browsed the internet for solution like on youtube and answer hq too, but I didn't find any solution that worked.

The EA App has the latest update, so it couldn't be the problem.

I have uploaded a screenshot of the tilte I get when I launch The Sims 4.

  • Hi there @Orseehhh,

It does sound like you may be logging into a different account than the one you had originally redeemed your code for The Sims 4 on.

You'll need to get in contact with the live support team so they can help you verify and locate which account your game is currently linked with- here on the forums, we don't have access to your account details to investigate this further with you. Please reach out to live support from the help site here- if you have any troubles getting in contact through the help site, you can let me know!

@Orseehhh  Are you sure you're signed into the correct account?  Even if you're reasonably convinced, please sign into ea.com with the same email address and password that you're using within the EA App.  Open your user profile, then Order History, and look for your purchases.  If you don't see them, you've loaded the wrong account.

Yes it's 100% that i logged in into the right account, because in the profile settings the registration date is the date when I registered to this account and I played with this account.

  • There's nothing in the Order history, as I said I boight the Sims 4 on an online site, not on ea, and also bought the DLC from Origin

I have only one account so it's hard to log in into a different account. I am member since 29/02/2023. But I'll try your advice and I hope it will help.

  • I am sharing some steps below, please follow the steps mentioned and then once you have done it check if you are still facing the issue or not.

    1. Go to Documents > Electronic Arts
    2. You'll see a folder here called The Sims 4
    3. Right click and rename this folder to The Sims 4 Old
    4. Once done. Launch the game. Reach the main menu and exit the game.
    5. Now go back to Documents > Electronic Arts
    6. You'll see 2 folders here. The Sims 4 Old and a newly created The Sims 4 folder.
    7. Go to the Old folder. Copy 2 folders here: Saves & Tray.
    8. Paste and replace them in The Sims 4 folder (Newly created one)
    9. Once done. Launch the game. Game should work properly.
