The Sims 4 Double/Triple Clicking Issue

Product: The Sims 4
Platform:PC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Often (50% - 99%)
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? Cats & Dogs
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? I do not know, as it randomly occurred when I started up the game one day and the issue appeared.
What happens when the bug occurs? When I try to interact with an object (such as a television) it forces me to click 2-3 times instead of just once. (I know it is not an issue with my mouse as it only happens in The Sims 4 and only happens when it is interacting with objects and never in menus/build mode/etc). This only happens when I'm in the world that comes with Cats & Dogs which is where my main home is and I'd rather not have to change my house so it's in one of the base game worlds as I shouldn't have to and since I paid for the DLC and I do not want to have to purposefully avoid some/many features of it. (I have tried playing in windowed mode which worked for about a day before the bug came back. I tried deleting all the origin cache files, I tried making a completely new game, I tried using the "repair game" feature in origin, I tried lowering my graphics/resolution settings, I tried restarting the game multiple times as well as my pc, I tried closing all of my apps before opening the game and none of those things have worked to any extent despite them working for others)
What do you expect to see? I try to click on an object and the sound for clicking on it plays but the interaction options do not unless I click one or two more times. (This doesn't happen every time I click on an object but the majority of times it does happen).
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Never used.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Yes
Please describe the patch or change you made. I purchased the Cats & Dogs expansion

‌What have I tried doing to fix the issue? I have tried playing in windowed mode which worked for about a day before the bug came back. I tried deleting all the origin cache files, I tried making a completely new game, I tried using the "repair game" feature in origin, I tried lowering my graphics/resolution settings, I tried restarting the game multiple times as well as my pc, I tried closing all of my apps before opening the game and none of those things have worked to any extent despite them working for others.

    Hey

I decided to just keep putting up with the bug for the past couple of weeks now and I just realised today that it has fully gone away and hopefully it will stay that way 🙂

Thank you @crinrict and @jpkarlsen for the suggestions on how to fix this issue.

If the problem comes up again (which I have a feeling it may do) I'll post asking for more suggestions again.

And no I have not found any other issues (there used to be some graphical issues with the shadows where there'd act really weird that would lead to crashes but that stopped after restarting my pc) relating to lag. And my Sims 4 generally stays at a decent and stable amount of fps without lag.

For testing purposes could you borrow another mouse and test with that? I notice that your Razer drivers for your Keyboard is quite old, Consider upgrading these.

@PieManPierce2003 You don't have signifikant more space no though. Did you try deleting some temp files as well ? Doing some cleaning up on your c drive ?

Not sure if this issue can be captured on video but maybe a visual would be helpful to better understand what's going on in your game.

I just borrowed a wireless logitech mouse for a few minutes and tried clicking on a handful of objects and nothing has changed, not even the amount it happens so I don't think that is what's causing it.

@crinrict I just uninstalled a handful of things and now I have 56.3GB free on my c drive whereas I used to have 30 something I believe. It made the amount I have to double-click on things a lot less frequent for a few minutes but then the issue went back to usual.

To record the issue would I have to install a recording software or is there something in game that lets you record or what exactly would I have to do?

Okay so now I've just moved my household back to the base game world because I'm sick of having to double click but the issue is continuing still so now I'm clueless on what to do.

    Hi @PieManPierce2003

Think we haven't done any user folder troubleshooting yet ?

Could you delete this file: documents\electronicarts\thesims\localthumbcache.packge.

It's a cache file and it will recreate.

Could you also start a fresh save for testing purposes to see if you get the same issue.

    That's good to hear.

I'm going to mark this as solved for now but if it comes back, just click on Not the solution on the solution post and we can continue from there.
