Tranfer entire game file between computers

Hello. I have terrible internet but I have a single laptop and a single stationary computer. Both can run Sims 4 and both have the storage space to do so.

I took my laptop elsewhere and downloaded Sims 4's recent update so that I could try and replacing my stationary PC's game with the updated version. Downloading from online is NOT an option for my stationary PC because I don't have strong internet at home. What I want to do is take the entire game from the laptop, put it on an external hard drive, then place the game in the stationary PC and override/replace the old version.

I am hoping to receive instructions on how to safely do this. I already know how to transfer mod folders and save files, but I am unsure if it would be a wise decision to simply drag the entire folder over and let it replace everything inside.

If it really is as simple as taking the file and just plopping it where it belongs, then please let me know.

  • @morldorie  You can certainly try tranferring the game's program files from your laptop to your PC.  You'd then at least want the EA App to repair the game on the PC.  From what I've seen, this process is not completely reliable but does work some of the time.  If you don't like the results, you can cancel the App's progress and try again.

Just as an example, I did two fresh installs of Sims 4 last night as I was trying to test something.  Both times, I copied the game's program files elsewhere on my computer, then uninstalled through the App.  The first time, the App verified, without downloading, the base game and one of the expansions I had installed, and it downloaded a fresh copy of the other expansion.  The other time, it just verified everything.  So if you're willing to try a few times, you might get this to work.  But like I said, having backups so you can try again is a good idea.
